SSE Enterprise Rail Win 5 Year Deal

According to Construction News – SSE Enterprise Rail has recently won a five-year programme of works with Network Rail that could be potentially worth up to £200m. SSE Enterprise Rail is the rail contracting arm of the energy giant SSE and specialises in M & E work across the network.

The five-year deal will stretch across Network Rail’s CP6 funding period from 2019 to 2024 and see the contractor deliver M & E, building services and fabric works on rail assets in the South of England and across Wales.

The South package of works will cover Network Rail’s West Country and Thames Valley routes as well as its Wessex and London North-west lines.

In April, Construction News revealed that in Network Rail’s contractor performance PRISM table, SSE finished second to Story contracting. SSE were given a PRISM score of 4.68 out of 5 for 12 months, up until 24th February 2018.

The SSE contract is one of the first packages of works to be let by Network Rail for CP6. The rail client has said it intends to spend £48bn on the rail network during the five-year funding period.

SSE Enterprise Rail managing director Raj Sinha: “With other strong opportunities on the horizon, we are working collaboratively to identify and deliver value-adding solutions through initiatives such as asset / project funding, asset ownership and alliances with Network Rail and other organisations including HS2 and Transport for London.”
